The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

Yes, the journey seems to begin, anew, every day!  After completing my own doctorate in 2011, I was eager to become a doctoral supervisor myself.  Now, with five successful completions, five more current supervisees (3 EdD, 2 PhD), and hopefully, by the end of this year (2021), eight candidates examined, in total, then my journey as a supervisor is well and truly underway – and I love it! Less than ten years after starting this journey, I have also completed the UKCGE Research Supervision Recognition Programme, too, consolidating some of my learning from this whole experience.

There are so many pages on the web focusing on doctoral researchers, by and for doctoral researchers,  that I thought maybe the musings of a doctoral supervisor might be appropriate, too.  These pages will therefore gradually build up, sharing some of my own personal insights as a supervisor.

I hope you enjoy these pages, and I ask you to feel free to ‘like’ (if you do); leave a message, if you want, and even share your own stories and ideas.

Best wishes,
